Bus Schedule Changes
In an effort to allow students more time to eat breakfast at school and still get to their classes on time, we will be running our morning bus routes and shuttles 8 minutes earlier. This will start on Mon, Jan 30, 2012. Copies of the revised schedules have been sent home with students and can be viewed from the Parent Access page.
Music Boosters Soup Supper
Friday, Jan. 27th, 5:00 until gone, $4
Serving chili, vegetable beef, and chicken noodle
FFA Boosters Pork Loin Tailgate will be on Tuesday night January 31 from 5 pm until gone. This meal is being held during the Basketball games between Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and South O’Brien.
Congratulations Speechers!
Three South O’Brien groups earned I ratings at District Large Group Speech competition Jan 21 at Milford and earned the right to compete at the State contest on Feb 4.
Readers Theatre “Note to Self”: Mikayla Campbell, Kellie Einck, Shelby Elrod, Dillon Hain, Wyatt Hicks, Alivia Johnson, Bobby McCauley, Daniel Patterson, Kendra Rohlfsen, Mara Rohwer, Hanna Song, Breana Van Beek, Aaron Waples, Daniel Wester, and Sara Wester.
Ensemble Acting “Keeping Score”: Daisha Dunnick, Jenna Heemstra, Naomi Petrich, and Kayla Weishuhn.
Group Improv: Daniel Wester, and Wyatt Hicks.
II ratings were earned by Group Improv: Mara Rohwer, Rebecca Thiel; and Ensemble Acting “Chair Wars”: Shelby Case, Karissa Langland.

Booster Club Apparel for Sale
Show your support for South O'Brien - wear or display items from Booster Club. New apparel items are available, see the New order forms that are available on the Booster Club Page. Other items are available for sale at home events, including teddy bears, jackets and blankets.
You can mail your orders to school or send them to either office with a student. Payment must be submitted with your order.

We earned almost $800 when we redeemed our Box Tops this fall! Thank you all for your generous donations! We obviously could not do this without
your help! We will send a second submission in March so keep saving your Box Tops!! The money will be going for a full-day Dome Theater science program we will have in the spring in our elementary.

The SOHS jazz band earned third place Thur, Jan 26 at the 2012 Iowa Lakes Community College jazz festival.

Come and enjoy performances by the South O’Brien Dance Team, as well as performances by dance teams from other schools. Soloists will also be featured.
A free will offering will be taken at the door.

Teacher Request Form
A form for teacher requests for the 2012-2013 school
year is now available at the link above and will be available at the elementary office after February 1. If parents choose to request a specific teacher for their child, they will need to fill out the form and return it to Mrs. Wiese by April 1. All request forms must be received before April 1 in order to be considered.Preschool Signup
The sign up date for the 2012-2013 South O'Brien Preschool will be March 1st. Children must be four years old by September 15th in order to attend. Enrollment in our preschool is capped at 18 students. You may call the Primghar office at 957-3755 to register.

Free or Reduced Price School Meals
You can apply for free or reduced price school meals AT ANY TIME. You may complete the forms supplied in the August 2011 online newsletter. Forms are also available in either office.
